Rating: PG-13

She had sent the email out over the weekend inviting a few friends to the local amusement park for one final day of fun before classes started with the request that it be forwarded on so that others could take part as well.

Subject: Last Blast!
Meet up at the amusement park at noon on August 17th for some fun before hitting the books. Non-students are welcome as well! The more the merrier!

This was how Tenten came to be standing in front of the gates of the amusement park, nervously awaiting to see if anyone showed up. Everyone could use a little fun now and then, right?
17th-Aug-2009 03:40 pm (UTC)
Neji spotted Tenten and wandered over to the gates wondering if she was still mad at him. He hoped not, and figured he could use this afternoon to win her over. Maybe win her one of those big novelty teddy bears or something. Girls liked that right? Waving slightly at her when he got closer, he arrived there smiling slightly. "No-one else yet?" he asked quietly. He wanted to kiss her, but decided to make sure she was in a better mood beforehand.
17th-Aug-2009 03:44 pm (UTC)
Tenten looked up in time to see Neji approaching. Fighting back a sigh, she forced a smile to her face, determined to move past his brush off while school supplies shopping.

"Not yet but it's still 15 minutes before noon." she replied quietly, her brown eyes examining him carefully. Sometimes she wished he'd show some emotion so she'd know what he was thinking.
17th-Aug-2009 03:51 pm (UTC)
Ahh Tenten was smiling. A forced smile, but at least she made an attempt to get over whatever was bothering her. Neji leaned in taking advantage of the fact they were alone and quickly kissed her softly on the cheek.

"I'm always early," he replied, himself in a quiet tone, "You know that."
17th-Aug-2009 03:59 pm (UTC)
Tenten leaned into the kiss, the forced smile slowly turning into a real one. She never could stay annoyed at Neji for too long "I know you are...I wasn't questioning your punctuality."

Glancing down the street, she frowned slightly. "Do you think anyone will show up?"
17th-Aug-2009 04:01 pm (UTC)
"Is that why you were early too?" Neji asked, already sure that's why Tenten was early. She knew him too well. Joining to glance down the street, he wondered that too. "Hopefully... maybe Sakura."

He hated the thought of her thinking no-one liked her, and hoped at least one person would show up. Though, he didn't really care who.
17th-Aug-2009 11:34 pm (UTC)
She nodded absently, her brown eyes still gazing down the road as if staring would make someone appear. It wasn't that she didn't want to spend time with Neji at the amusement park - that was definitely not her problem.

She found herself hoping that Sakura did show up...or even Hinata even though Tenten had never really spoken to her. Even the pretty blue haired girl she had seen around but never introduced herself to.
19th-Aug-2009 06:26 am (UTC)
It wasn't like Sakura to be late, but some last minute things at her school had made her have to stick around for an extra hour before she could leave her dorm. Things were finally all set up, and this was a day she needed. Wanted. She wanted to have fun with friends. When was the last time she did that?

Once she caught sight of two familiar figures standing at the entrance to the park, she waved her hand above her head and started jogging a little faster. "Hey you guys!" she panted.

It looked like they were the only two here so far, and suddenly she felt like a third wheel. Tucking some flyaway strands that had come loose from her small pigtails she finally came up to the two.

"Sorry I'm a little late," she let out a short exhale, placing her hands on her hips and peering inside the park. People were already inside and the rides were going. Too bad she couldn't get a hold of Naruto. What the hell was he doing anyway?

"Were you guys waiting long?"
19th-Aug-2009 12:36 pm (UTC)
Tenten's face brightened up considerably when Sakura appeared. Despite what Neji had said earlier, she had started worrying that no one was going to show up. How embarrassing would that have been?

"Sakura! It's great to see you again!" she replied cheerfully as the girl neared them then shook her head. "We've only been here a few minutes...in fact, you're actually on time as we both showed up a little earlier than planned."

Turning slightly, she glanced up at the large clock outside of the amusement. Five minutes to noon. She supposed waiting a few more minutes wouldn't hurt.
20th-Aug-2009 02:28 am (UTC)
"Oh," she blinked for a second, pulling out her cell and checking the time. She was right. There was actually still a couple of minutes before noon. Tucking the phone back in her pocket, she sighed in relief. "Guess I'm on time after all."

Before realizing she was the third-wheel again. Damn. Maybe someone would show up that she could hang out with. But then again, they were both standing within a comfortable distance of each other, so she was second-guessing her observation.

"Do you guys know who else is coming?"
21st-Aug-2009 12:48 pm (UTC)
Tenten ran a hand through one of her low pigtails. "Actually I'm not sure." she replied, shrugging sheepishly and grinning. "I sent the email to friends and asked that they forward it on. No telling how many people it reached."

From the looks of it, not very many though. She had hoped the little get together would've been a little more popular but oh well - she'd have fun with Sakura and Neji if nothing else.

She noticed Sakura looking at her and Neji and suddenly hoped she didn't think that they'd ignore her.
23rd-Aug-2009 08:03 pm (UTC)
He stuffed his hands into his pockets as he meandered towards the entrance of the large amusement park. Craning his gaze upward, he took in the sight of the many rides the park offered, no doubt they could be seen from a few miles out on either side. The sounds of metal on metal from a nearby roller coaster filled his ears, along with the piercing screams of the individuals riding it. It was unusual for Sasuke to tag along willingly to a function involving a lot of people, normally he preferred to keep to himself however the open invitation had piqued his almost catlike curiosity. While he was somewhat of a serious 20-something, in some ways he was still a kid.

Joining in near silence to the group of Tenten, Neji and Sakura he carried his usual apathetic expression, checking his watch to find that he was punctual as usual it seemed that the group was smaller than he'd anticipated.

"Guess it didn't reach as many people as you were hoping for," Sasuke said quietly.
24th-Aug-2009 04:03 am (UTC)
Tenten looked up as another person joined their group - a dark haired boy who appeared to be around their age with an emotionless expression on his face. She had no idea who he was, however that didn't stop her from sending him a friendly smile.

"It was pretty last minute so I'm hoping that's the reason our group is small." she replied softly then held out her hand, introducing herself. "Tenten."
25th-Aug-2009 02:29 am (UTC)
The voice startles her a bit, not expecting him of all people to show up, before she lets out a relieved sigh. Maybe she wouldn't have to be a third wheel after all. Turning to face him, she lets a smile stretch across her features. "Hi Sasuke," her smile turns a bit wry.

"This is kind of a surprise."
26th-Aug-2009 01:35 am (UTC)
Never missing a beat, his eyes darted from her face to her hand almost instantaneously. She was being friendly in her introduction, but considering that he himself was not overly fond of touch of the familiar sort from people he didn't know, Sasuke made no motion to shake hands. Though through the eyes of others more than likely his lack of movement was regarded as nothing more than rudeness. "Sasuke..."

Her surprise wasn't overly visible, but he'd noticed the widening of her green eyes as she turned to face him; her smile seemed to light up her features and made them much easier to read. While he carried a mask of indifference to the world around him, Sasuke payed much more attention to things that he would ever be given credit for. "Hey Sakura," he turned his attention towards the rose haired girl. "Long time no see..."
26th-Aug-2009 03:45 pm (UTC)
A new person arrived, Neji looked in his direction. Noting Tenten didn't know him, and that Sakura did, he nodded in greeting to him. Ahh his name was Sasuke. "Neji," he said, introducing himself. He wouldn't bother to attempt to shake the other guy's hand after seeing Tenten being shot down.

He couldn't help but wonder how Sakura and the newcomer knew each other, and couldn't resist to ask. "How do you know Sakura?" Straight to the point, no bullshit.

Sneaking a glance over at Tenten, he smiled ever so slightly at her. Two people had shown up, not too many people, and an even number (which was always good for an amusement park).
28th-Aug-2009 12:24 pm (UTC)
Sakura sighed heavily at Sasuke's continuous show at his lack of tact when it came to the outside world and mingling with the people in it. She tried to give Tenten a placating smile for the raven's sake, but she had seen the smile drop a bit and quickly darted her gaze back to Sasuke, a disapproving furrow in her brow before waving a hand at Tenten.

She mouths the words 'antisocial' behind her hand, and hopes she gets the hint before turning back to the Uchiha, smile back on her face.

"Yeah," she agrees, letting her hand drop back down to her side, "it's been a while."

While Neji's question was directed at Sasuke, she looks around to see if anyone else they knew was headed their way. No luck yet. Well, four was a good number, and now she had Sasuke to hang out with -as exciting as that was, no, really- instead of feeling like she was getting in the way. In a way, it was like a double-date.

Her eyes move back to Sasuke, waiting for his answer and wondering if she should just say it because Sasuke was not a man of many words. Did he even remember?
2nd-Sep-2009 01:01 pm (UTC)
Tenten was resisting the urge to scowl at the newcomer. When she saw Sakura mouthing "antisocial" at her, she nodded slightly, forcing a smile to her face. Just because you were antisocial didn't mean you had to be rude.

Clearing her throat, she nodded at the gate. "Should we go ahead and buy our tickets?" she asked, ignoring the fact that Neji was interrogating Sasuke. "There are four of us which is perfect so I figured we could swap off partners for rides." So that we can attempt to have fun... was left unsaid. She didn't want Sakura to be stuck with Sasuke on every ride nor was she really wanting to be stuck with Neji, who she was still a little annoyed at.

...maybe she should make the guys ride together. They could look bored together.
26th-Aug-2009 03:50 pm (UTC)
Tenten's smile faltered somewhat when Sasuke made no move to take her hand. Forcing the smile to remain on her face, she let her hand fall back to her side. At least he had introduced himself and not completely ignored her. She wouldn't let it get to her - he had shown up after all, ne?

She looked over at Sakura in surprise. Apparently she knew the new addition to their small group. At least it now brought them to an even number.
30th-Aug-2009 03:46 am (UTC)
He nodded his head, acknowledging Neji though the immensely private man that he was initially thought that his relation with Sakura was none of anyone else’s business. Though the question was innocent enough, which was probably asked for conversation’s sake rather than with the intent to impede on personal boundaries. Though for the life of him Sasuke couldn’t figure why he’d be interested in that sort of thing anyway. “We met at school,” he said casually as he felt Sakura’s eyes on him. She had sighed briefly, and he wondered if it was due to his rather curt introduction to her friends. Even so, she knew how he was… one would always have to take the Uchiha at face value for he was always himself. Silent and sometimes overly critical, take it or leave it. “She came up to me in the courtyard, and we started talking…”
2nd-Sep-2009 01:38 pm (UTC)
The truth was, Neji was just trying to make conversation. He never cared for such trivial things, but thought it was important to maintain politeness when first meeting someone new. Neji nodded in acknowledgement, there was nothing else to say to that, he could relate though, seeing as he had met Tenten at school, though he had a feeling Sasuke and Sakura weren't as close.

Tenten was right in a way, Neji had to give her that, four was the perfect number to have for a grop for an amusement park. Though he couldn't help but be slightly annoyed than Tenten would rather be on the rides with Sakura or Sasuke. "I guess..." he mumbled in agreement, no use arguing about it.
2nd-Sep-2009 07:15 pm (UTC)
Definitely not as close, but she was sure as hell trying. It was a good sign he remembered, though some random girl coming up to you while you were trying to mind your own -especially when the girl had pink hair- and invites you out to lunch was hard to forget.

Or so she hoped.

"Yeah, let's go!" she tried to be the chipper of the four, grabbing Tenten's and Sasuke's hand and strolling up to the ticket booth and hoping the brunette would grab Neji's along the way. She couldn't help but sigh as she pulled her money out of her wallet and paid for hers, today was supposed to be fun, and then stepped aside for the others.
3rd-Sep-2009 12:26 am (UTC)
Suddenly out of nowhere he felt himself being gently tugged towards the ticket booth, a small hand clasped on his own without the slightest consideration of the fact that he could walk perfectly well on his own. But Sakura was just that way, and he'd come to accept it. While he wasn't a huge fan of being touched, Sasuke found that he wasn't bothered by the rosette's presence both physical and otherwise. She was one of the closest things he had to a friend, and while it was still new territory for the him - the experience had been worth exploring.

"You're really pumped about this aren't you?" Sasuke asked raising an eyebrow, his expression turning slightly quizzical as he pulled out his own wallet. She was almost like a child in her exuberance, it was rather amusing. Paying for his ticket, he stepped off to the side waiting for his two new acquaintances.
3rd-Sep-2009 03:29 am (UTC)
"A little," she smiles sheepishly, using her ticket to fan herself. "You're not?" she teases. It was going to be a nice day. Honestly, she wasn't completely sure why she was so excited. It wasn't like she was locked in a room all day like Sasuke had the tendency to do.

The facts were facts, and while she loved school, she also loved having a good time. This was perfect opportunity to do so. Rather, before she drowned herself in books and schoolwork.

She stands beside him as they both wait for the other two to pay and they could finally go inside.
3rd-Sep-2009 03:33 am (UTC)
Tenten waited for Sakura and Sasuke to buy their tickets before stepping up and doing the same. With ticket in hand, she stepped to the side and waited for Neji to buy his ticket.

Thankfully Sakura's excitement cheered her up somewhat and she started to feel a little better about the get together. Hopefully both guys would loosen up and they would have fun.

Glancing past the two, she gazed into the amusement park. She was definitely in the mood for a roller coaster.
3rd-Sep-2009 02:01 pm (UTC)
Swiftly pulling his wallet out of pocket, Neji stepped ahead and paid for his own ticket. He had planned to pay for Tenten's aswell, but she managed to buy hers before he got the chance.

"What do you want to go on first Ten?" he offered, trying to relax a bit. Though it was increasingly hard hanging out with someone he had just met.
3rd-Sep-2009 02:22 pm (UTC)
Tenten's eyebrows rose slightly when Neji spoke to her. She supposed she should give him credit for attempting to have fun. At least he was trying even though, like most things Neji did, it didn't seem that way. She shrugged in response then nodded at Sakura and Sasuke.

"Why don't we just make the loop and whenever you see something you want to ride, yell." she suggested, not wanting to the one to determined what they'd ride and what not. She then smiled brightly.
6th-Sep-2009 10:47 pm (UTC)
Sasuke shrugged his shoulders, as if he hadn’t thought much about it but in reality his interest was piqued much higher than he let on. Truth be told the exuberance that Sakura had was more than enough for the both of them, and like she had a tendency to do - would more than likely have him enjoying himself before the day was out. Go figure. “I guess, I’ve never been to an amusement park before…” his voice trailed off as he realized he was probably the only one out of the group that hadn’t. Oh the joys of being an overly sheltered child, he had his mother to thank for that one. “You’ll have to tell me what’s fun around here.” Sasuke nodded his head slightly in Tenten’s direction, as she seemed to already have plans for the first ride. She’d probably been on every single thing in the park, which would be beneficial since she’d know what not to go on.
7th-Sep-2009 06:58 pm (UTC)
Tenten's eyebrows rose slightly when Sasuke said he had never been to an amusement park before. Which of course meant he had probably never ridden a ride before. Better start out slow then. She didn't want to run him off by getting him sick so soon.

With a nod towards the carousel, she smiled. "As cheesy as it sounds, how about we start off with the carousel?" Her hand went up and she tugged nervously on a pigtail. "Probably best to not jump into anything that goes upside down or really fast at first, ne?"
9th-Sep-2009 05:44 pm (UTC)
Neji almost scoffed, no way was he going on the carousel, and he didn't think this guy looked like he would want to go on it either. Sometimes he wondered what went through Tenten's head.

"Er... Ten, I don't think Sasuke would want to go on the carousel somehow," he said quietly yet seriously, "If you girls want to go on it, then do so, but I won't be caught dead on there."

So much for trying to make up for treating her badly this way... he'd have to win her a goldfish or a teddy bear or something.
9th-Sep-2009 05:48 pm (UTC)
Tenten shot Neji an annoyed look. Leave it to him to start the day off on a great foot. Sometimes she thought he denied her things to get his own jollies. Sighing, she glanced back over at Sasuke before returning a cool gaze at Neji.

"Fine...the ferris wheel then?" She crossed her arms over her chest, eyebrow arching. "Or would you prefer death over that as well?"

At least the cages for the ferris wheel were big enough for four people.
13th-Sep-2009 09:47 pm (UTC)
She could feel a trickle of sweat slide down the side of her face. This was going wonderfully -and she thought so in the most sarcastic way possible. Rubbing her temples, she glances around at the rides, catching sight of the pirate ship rocking back and forth with people screaming in excitement and thrill.

"How about that?" it wasn't a kiddie ride, but it also wasn't too extreme for a first timer like Sasuke. Hah, amusement park virgin. Though she's more pleased he had found the time -or that they were worthy enough- to spend time here with them. "Manly enough for you two?" her voice is as sarcastic as she feels, not believing a person could be so picky about a damn ride.
14th-Sep-2009 05:34 pm (UTC)
Biting her lip to hold back the snort of laughter, Tenten glanced over at Sakura. Suddenly she was glad that she wasn't the only one getting frustrated with the guys. She was half tempted to grab Sakura and drag her off to ride since the ride choice had become a topic for debate.

"Pirate ship is fine with me..." she finally replied, her voice shaking with held back laughter as she turned towards the guys with an expectant look on her face. At the rate they were going, they'd spend the whole time staring at the rides instead of actually riding them.
15th-Sep-2009 01:07 am (UTC)
Now when he’d said that this was his first trip to the amusement park, Sasuke hadn’t intended to start off with the carousel. What had made her suggest such a thing was beyond him, he wasn’t a child after all; and the last he checked his constitution was strong enough to have passed the going up and down slowly in a methodical circle. He had to agree with Neji on that one, he wouldn’t be caught dead on that ride. Though just as Tenten suggested the Ferris Wheel, he hadn’t but a second or two to allow his eyes to take it in before Sakura suggested something else and delivered her sarcastic jab.

“It has nothing to do with being manly or not,” Sasuke said dryly, “The carousel appears to be for children, and the Ferris Wheel hardly looks like a joyride. But sure, I think I’m man enough to ride a pirate ship.”
15th-Sep-2009 04:57 am (UTC)
"I wasn't being serious," she commented. Though for intentions and purposes it was a bit...

Exasperating to be picky over a ride. It was the first thing there, and Tenten was just trying to make things simple. Just ride the dam- darn thing and don't complain. There's probably a reason it's called an 'amusement' park. She can think of a few people that would ride the carousel and make a good time out of it.

Oh well.

"You sure?" she teases, not able to hide the smirk as they start walking in the direction of the yells and the swinging boat. "Looks pretty scary for a first timer.."
